Visa Issuance, Renewals Made Easier in China

According to the National Immigration Administration and the Ministry of Public Security, China would make it easier for foreign businessmen to obtain port visas and have them renewed many times.
Foreigners without enough time to apply for visas to China outside the country but coming to China for business negotiations, trade exchanges, installation and maintenance, participation in exhibitions, investment, and entrepreneurship can apply for port visas to enter the country with an invitation letter and certification materials from the company.
Those who must leave and enter China more than once for business purposes can apply for a replacement within three years of their arrival in China with a legitimate business visa for multiple entries.
These steps, according to Jia Tongbin, deputy director of the National Immigration Administration's Department of Foreigners Management, will encourage cross-border business personnel exchanges, make it easier for foreign executives, businesspeople, and other personnel to conduct trade cooperation, visit China, and engage in business negotiations.
Foreigners must also submit their passports to the departure and entry administration departments for review when applying for residency permits in China, and the document will be returned to them once they have been granted permission to stay.
Foreign nationals can now apply for residency permits while keeping their original passports following verification, allowing them to handle important affairs with their passports during that time.
This policy focuses on foreigners who live in China permanently and who do things like work, study, invest, conduct scientific research, innovate, and start businesses there as well as travel to see family. While they are waiting for their residence permits to be approved, they are free to conduct social activities including travel, lodging, paying taxes, and banking using their passports. According to Jia, the change will assist establish a more effective and convenient business environment, benefiting at least 700,000 individuals annually.
